Creative Brief

One of the first projects Twitter approached us to do was a series of 5 videos for the Twitter Small Business Blog/Youtube Channel to help explain to SMB’s how they could best take advantage of Twitter as part of their marketing strategy.

“The SMB marketing team at Twitter has worked with Impossible Engine on several video projects that have exceeded our expectations. We're constantly impressed with Impossible Engine's high quality of work, creative thinking, ability to quickly adapt with our changing needs and overall, efficiency in meeting deadlines.” —Jimmy Hang, SMB Marketing | Twitter, Inc.

Process

Twitter provided an illustration style to begin with that they were starting to use on other collateral.

Production

From there, we began 3D animation tests and render style explorations that mimicked this 2D look while also giving us the flexibility to use the full extent of our 3D capabilities.

Result

We took special care to be sensitive to a global audience, checking with Twitter US’s counterparts regularly during scriptwriting. By the end of the series we had created a whole universe of characters and business owners including a strongman, a surfing nun, a pirate cat, a daredevil, a talking shark and the story of a boy and his bear. Twitter loved it so much we went on to (cost effectively) translate this 5 video series into 7 (and counting) languages worldwide, working with Twitter offices in EMEA and APJ.
